Here's another poem (of sorts.) I wrote it a few years back and,
if anyone decides to read this, I hope you enjoy it!
GLOW IN MY WINDOW
Into my room
Into the darkness
Through the cold, hard plastic of my telephone
Your laugh presses against my chest
It is a warm broad hand, outspread, slowing my heartbeat
It pushes me deeper into the mattress
Into the warm comfort of my bedding
The blood is hot and red in my cheeks
The slow drone of your deep voice hums in my ears
It conjures up images of lips I've seen shaping words
I think, "what are yours like - how do they move?"
Slowly, dawn begins to glow in my window
I look at my clock
Soon I will have to hang up to get ready for work
My eyes are swollen from a sleepless night
But I am alert as your footsteps continue to fall inside my head
You walk quietly through my mind, exploring
What do you see there?
Who am I to you?
All of my doors have been open to you tonight
I somehow know you are not afraid
You will not run
Others have, but you will not
I know with me you will be gentle
Others have not been, but you will be
It is at this moment
Here alone in my bed with your voice
I realize it is too late
At once I trust
Too late to go back
At once you are trustworthy
Too late because we are now irrevocably connected
I am gone
We are here
